DC++ instructions

Assuming you've downloaded and installed DC++ correctly, the first time you start the program, you'll see the Settings dialog.

1) Enter a nickname.

2) Select LAN(T3) as the Connection Type.

3) Click Downloads from the list on the left.

4) Choose a place to put the files you'll download. When you've done so, copy the text in this box to the clipboard.

5) Click Sharing from the list on the left.

Now you have to find some files to share. You'll need to find 8 gigs or so before you can join the hub. To add a folder:

6) Click the Add Folder button. On the dialog that pops up (not shown), right-click the text box at the bottom and click 'paste' - this adds your downloads directory to your share. Click OK.

Click Add Folder again. One by one you'll need to add the folders where you keep your movies, music, TV shows, and anything else of interest to anyone else. Hopefully you keep your files reasonably well organized... At this point it's worth mentioning that, while others can download your files, they can't delete or move them, so don't worry. Avoid sharing directories like C:\Program Files\ and definitely don't share the root of your C:\ drive.

7) Click OK to close the settings window.

8) Go to the favourite hubs tab by clicking the yellow star on the toolbar.

9) Add an entry for rezhub by clicking the New button.

10) In the dialog that pops up, type "rezhub" for the name and rezhub.zapto.org:9306 for the address. Click OK.

An entry for rezhub is now added to your favourites list.

11) Double click this entry to connect. Every time you want to connect to rezhub, do this. Once you're connected, you can search for files by clicking the toolbar button that looks like a magnifying glass.
